La Tapatia #2
Rating:

this past saturday, after a hard day of work, i cashed my paycheck and headed over to Tapatia #2, a jalisco style taqueria. its on the north side of ben white just east of I-35 (next to the Moneybox)
The stars were aligned with me on this sunny afternoon as I had a flawless dining experience..I was greeted with smiles from the friendly waitstaff, ordered some ice T in a matter of seconds.. i was presented with the obligaroty chips y salsa.. the salsa was incredibly fresh and tasty, not too hot, not too mild.. mmm.
I ordered the Plato Combinado (combination plate) with Al Pastor and Beef Fajita.. the food arrived in less than 5 minutes, hot and fresh with a generous amount of avocado on the side along with rice , beans, and hot corn tortillas.. i gave my meat a squeeze of lime in true jalisco style..then i dug in.. the pastor was flavorful and tender.. not too much fat..the beef was suprisingly good.. the meat was tender, not chewy or too thin. i was struck again by the freshness of all the food. it was the main reason why it was so good.. i was in heaven.. i couldnt stop eating the salsa.. i put it on everything.. they had to refill my salsa bowl halfway through the meal and i was eating solo!
it was such a satisfying meal.. the food had been prepared with love and positivity which is not something that can be overlooked..
my experience at amayas taco village today was a stark contrast to this.. even though the food tasted adequate, it was notably lacking freshness and energy that makes food enjoyable and healing.. this will factor into my atmosphere rating..
of note at tapatia also is the burrito – for 3 dollars you can get a gigantic burrito the size of a plate.. its one of the best deals in town, though i prefer the combination plate myself.. thats how chappy rolls…
