Casa Chapala is not a franchise of anything. Lupe and Lucina moved their business from the Pacific NW to Austin to be closer to family. it is a great place, and they are great people.

Wife just go diagnosed with food poisoning from fish tacos she ate there last night (Sunday Feb 24nd 2008). Ecoli found in sample submittd to lab. She only ate one taco (god bless) so I sampled them and they are clearly undercooked. She was violently ill last night and this morning. We'll be filling a health dept report.

What an experience!!!!!!!!!!
10 of us and the service and food was the best we have eaten.
As I read your review....I thought about the wait time for the food and the quality.
Conversation and good company take over for the wait. The quality and quantity were excellent.
I would give it a 9.5 on your scale. Plus the Booz was good. Casa Chapala was reccommended by the Hilton Hotel and well worth the drive of 20 minutes.

We just left there and I was wondering why some menus had fresh leather across the front. They should have left as is. On a trip to mex I had surf and tours (turf) and guacamole deep. The food was great, we will be back.

return trip to chapala yesterday.
had the bus boy make the salsa hotter this time.. it lasted about 5 min.. no refill..

ordered the seafood burrito lunch special.. not bad..
zesty, the tiny shrimp didnt really look so hot, but as a whole, it tasted fine.. i was satisfied.. chapala scores points for its decor and friendly waitstaff.. but overall its a little blah.

it was I, that discovered the burned leather menu typo. twas I.

Not for fame, jovial credit among peers nor adulation I say - but for the simple glory one experiences when the discovery, literally materializes before your eyes and the moment lay historic.

An exerience so rare and precious that it can only be described
..as a true taco town moment
