Taco Town hasn’t tried Sazon (yet), but the other bloggers have and they’re weighing in- Metroblogging Austin gives a quick but informative review of this newish South Lamar joint. They love the mole and the margaritas. Full review here >

UPDATE: We finally tried Sazon for lunch the other day: i had the Pollo En Pipian: a tender chicken leg, smothered in a greenish pumpkin seed sauce, served with rice and fresh corn tortillas. The dish was very interesting, though i probably would not order it again. Maybe just not my bag. I did eat the whole thing though. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was nice too. Return trip is needed for the full review, but it looks very good so far. - Cabeza

My boss has been telling me to go there just about every week since he tried it out. I read Metroblogging Austin’s take and it sounds like it is worth it. And 1/2 price coupons!
I can’t wait to pop over and try it.

This restaurant is next up on my queue. I’m excited to go and try what’s been so highly recommended! Side note: does anyone know of a web group for austin food critics/ mealbloggers.

I went to this restaurant last night. It was EXCELLENT. I had the Guiso de Res tacos-basically Carne Guisada tacos…..very delicious on homemade corn tortillas. The best I’ve had in Austin. My date had the Enchiladas de Pipian with beef. Again, an excellent dish. The sauce was slightly spicy with great flavor. His white rice and black beans were also wonderful. We each had a margarita-frozen and on the rocks….both just right.
We named this our new favorite restaurant in Austin…and that says a lot because we go out a lot! I highly recommend this!!!
