Bringin the HEAT – Late Nite at Casa Del Fuego
We stopped by this trailer last night after the gig at Antone’s. The young turks inside were smug, but the grub was fantastic…here’s some highlights:
- Home made flour tortillas – win
- The Meat – tender and tasty – especially the beef fajita
- The Salsas! try the creamy jalapeño ala TacoDeli’s Doña Sauce
- The Condiment Bar – Bernie loved the onion relish w/ habaneros
at least for now, La Casa Del Fuego is parked at the NorthWest corner of 4th & Lavaca…seems like they’re open thursday thru Saturday until about 3am…get in there.

***AVOID AVOID AVOID***
I hardly ever give a 1 star rating unless there is a good reason…
This place is conveniently located and opened late hours (on the weekends) when you’re looking for a quick bite after a long night of going out… Food is decent and there is usually a long line.
This past Friday a group of us were visiting Austin and after a night out we decided to stop by for a quick bite. After patiently waiting in line for 10 minutes, I placed a to-go order for 12 tacos, 8 beef fajita tacos with cheese and 4 been and cheese the guy (wearing glasses) at the window added up the tab and said it came to $124.43.
I asked him how many tacos do you have me down for? He said 12. I then asked him “$124 for 12 tacos?!?” He paused and looked down at the counter and then his next response was “it comes to $90.74.”
Not kewl… Grant it that most of their customers are drunk by the end of the night but there is absolutely no need for this kind of behavior. Especially from a great and friendly city like Austin.
No way!
